Presented at the 2013 Aquarius/SAC-D Science Team Meeting
The Microwave Radiometer on board the SAC-D/Aquarius mission, launched in June 2011, is a Dicke radiometer operating at 23.8 GHz (H-Pol) and 36.5 GHz (H/V-Pol). MWR channels are useful to provide ancillary data for the various retrievals to be performed with Aquarius regarding ocean and land applications. In this study we report some of the calibration results obtained with two different techniques: a land cross-calibration with Windsat and the Vicarious Cold calibration. In both cases, results were generated for the 2011-2012 period and using the version V5.0S of the MWR data. It was found that the instrument presents good stability properties and compares favorably to Windsat over land targets. Nevertheless, certain issues to be resolved are identified and a correction is proposed. View presentation here.
