Seasonal To Interannual Variations of Aquarius Satellite Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) Measurements, Precipitation and Evaporation in the Tropical Pacific.
[16-Dec-2016] Lagerloef, G.S.E. and Kao, H-Y.
Presented at the 2016 AGU Fall Meeting
Salinity variations at the ocean surface are key indicators of changes in air-sea water fluxes. The Aquarius mission measured sea surface salinity (SSS) over the global ocean from 25 August 2011 to 7 June 2015 (about 3 years, 9 months), coinciding with the onset of the 2015 El Niño. This presentation will explore preliminary findings of the SSS seasonal to interannual variability during this time, and the correlations with ENSO indices, surface precipitation and evaporation fluxes.
